Traverse Health: Disrupting the Clinical Trials Market

Traverse Health pioneers clinical research with Real World Data (RWD) from underrepresented patient populations. Targeting growth markets and prioritizing data diversity, they bridge industry data gaps. Their strategy includes smart geographic expansion, partnerships, and alliances with leading hospitals, positioning them as pioneers in blue ocean markets. This exclusive access to diverse patient data fulfills strong demand from customers including pharma, biotech, and regulators. 1. Hi Alex. Thank you for agreeing to do the interview. Tell us about Traverse Health and the idea that got it all started.

Thank you for having me. Traverse Health was born out of a desire to make a meaningful impact. My career began in the oil and gas industry, but I felt disconnected from the purpose I was seeking. When I transitioned into consulting, I stumbled upon a case in one of the Scandinavian countries that showcased the digitalization of healthcare data. That was my eureka moment. I saw the immense potential of leveraging data to revolutionize healthcare.

Since then, I’ve dedicated nearly eight years to this field, focusing on harnessing data to improve health outcomes and drive innovation in healthcare.

2. What problems are you trying to solve? What are the benefits of Traverse Health?

At Traverse Health, we’re tackling two significant challenges: the rising costs of drug development and the lack of diversity in clinical trials. The inefficiency of clinical trials is a major contributor to the high costs, and even approved drugs often fail to benefit all patients due to selection bias and the overrepresentation of Caucasian participants in research. Traverse Health addresses these issues by providing access to data from underrepresented patient populations.

We’re building a federated network of hospitals across the MENA and APAC regions to ensure diverse and real-world data is available for clinical and market research, ultimately leading to more inclusive and effective healthcare solutions.

3. You have a live round on Leapfunder. What makes it the right tool for your startup, and what do you expect from the round?

Leapfunder is the ideal platform for us because it connects us with a community of angel investors who are not only financially capable but also share our passion for data-driven healthcare and business development in emerging economies.

We’re looking for smart investors who can bring more than just capital. Investors who can offer valuable expertise and strategic support to help us achieve our ambitious goals. Through this round, we hope to secure both the funding and the professional backing we need to drive Traverse Health forward.

4. How much growth potential do you see for Traverse Health?

Traverse Health has significant growth potential. We’ve already seen a strong upward trajectory, with our revenue increasing from €20K in 2023 to an expected €214K in 2024. We’re projecting this growth to continue, with revenues reaching nearly €1M in 2025.

This rapid growth reflects the increasing demand for our solutions and the expanding opportunities in the healthcare data space, especially as more companies and institutions recognize the value of diverse and underrepresented patient data in driving innovation and improving outcomes.

5. What are your plans for the upcoming months? Tell us about your go-to-market strategy and the plan to acquire customers.

In the upcoming months, our primary focus is on strengthening our existing relationships within the pharma and biotech sectors. We’ll be participating in the 3rd Leiden Drug Development Conference on ‘AI in Drug Development, Manufacturing, and Healthcare’ this September, which aligns perfectly with our goal of deepening ties with key players in these industries.

Following this, we’ll shift our attention to expanding our presence in the GCC region. We’re launching our platform in Saudi Arabia in partnership with Almoosa Specialist Hospital and are in talks with more healthcare groups in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, we’ll be actively participating in regional events like The 7th GCC eHealth Workforce Development Conference and ADLM Middle East to further promote our solutions and acquire new customers.

Thank you very much for sharing your story with us. We wish Traverse Health the best of luck.
