1. Hi Michel. Thank you for agreeing to do the interview. Tell us about Delphyr and the idea that got it all started.

Delphyr is a digital health platform that generates clinical insights in real-time and on the fly, helping doctors make superior clinical decisions. We’re reinventing the way doctors interact with patient data to extract insights faster and more accurately than before.

I’m an anesthesiologist and a data AI researcher who has been in the field for over 10 years. Day in and day out, I’ve endured the problems of data overload, lack of accessibility, and the administrative burden of repetitive forms and clicks in the system. Especially as an anesthesiologist, we have to gather data from multiple sources and file types, so I was digitally pushing paper.

However, as a researcher, I gathered great knowledge of data models and hospital databases. I realized I could combine these two fields of expertise and build a tool to easily extract information from hospital systems and generate clinical insights. This tool should be the ultimate clinical companion for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who need to extract knowledge.

Before I knew it, Delphyr was born. I founded the company, gathered a talented team of developers and designers, and started to redraw the way doctors should work. Not long after, we landed our first customer in the Netherlands. A true running start

2. What problems are you trying to solve? What are the benefits of Delphyr?

Doctors and nurses spend more time facing a computer than facing a patient. The burden of finding the relevant information has become unworkable, due to “data noise” and “data scatter”. This leads to inefficient workflows and quite frankly, situations where healthcare professionals don’t have all the necessary information at their disposal to make the right decision.

With Delphyr, we unlock that information and generate insights from the data in the EHR. This happens on the fly and in real-time, leading to the fastest, most accurate, and most efficient way of extracting insights from the hospital systems. With Delphyr, doctors and nurses don’t need to waste time collecting data, they can focus on patient care.

3. You have a live round on Leapfunder. What makes it the right tool for your startup, and what do you expect from the round?

With Leapfunder, we can connect to angel investors looking for a great opportunity, such as Delphyr. I like angel investing a lot, due to the personal touch that naturally comes with these investors. They’re often ambitious entrepreneurs themselves, so they understand the grit it takes to build a company.

4. How much growth potential do you see for Delphyr?

Delphyr addresses significant inefficiencies in the healthcare sector, particularly the 40% administrative burden faced by medical specialists. These market pain points lead to high market demand for our solution.

The primary market includes various specialisms of all hospitals and therefore a vastly great market potential given the amount of value created by freeing up time and driving superior outcomes. 

Our solution integrates seamlessly with existing systems without significant modifications enhancing its attractiveness to healthcare providers, which sets us apart from other solutions in this space.

5. What are your plans for the upcoming months? Tell us about your go-to-market strategy and the plan to acquire customers.

In the upcoming months, we have loads of milestones such as releasing our proprietary AI model to help doctors interpret the data and closing deals on two clients.

Our go-to-market strategy is a land-and-expand strategy, which we attain through well-defined pilots. We have a business model that is flexible enough to offer our solution on a department level instead of a whole hospital. This tends to shorten decision processes.

In our current phase, customer acquisition is through leadership, relationships, and trust. Leadership through peer-reviewed publications, relationships through true connections, trust through transparency. There is no shortcut in health.
